Consultation:
American Contact Lens professional consultation staff
can assist you with selecting the BioCurve toric lens that is right
for your patient. Give our courteous staff your patient's Spectacle
Rx and K readings, and we will design the lens for you. Call toll
free 800-959-2020 and ask for consultation.
Fitting Procedure:
BioCurve specialty soft toric contact lenses are
designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of toric lens patients.
This guide will take you through the fitting procedure for the BioCurve
soft toric contact lens.
Contact Lens
Rx:
1) Convert the spectacle Rx to minus cylinder form.
2) The cylinder
axis will be the same as the refractive axis.
3a) If the sphere
power is greater than +/-4.00, calculate for vertex distance using
the vertex conversion
table.
3b) With plus sphere powers, increase power by +0.25D for powers
+0.25 to +2.75. Powers +3.00 and higher, increase by +0.50D.
4a) Cylinder
- minus prescriptions; add spectacle sphere and cylinder powers.
Vertex if greater than -4.00. Subtract calculated sphere power from
step 3, remainder equals cylinder power.
4b) Cylinder
- plus prescriptions; use the same cylinder as acheived in the Spectacle
Rx.
Minus
Rx Example:
Spec Rx -5.00 -3.00 x 090
Sphere Pwr.
__Vertex Sphere -5.00 = -4.75
Cylinder Pwr.
__Vertex Combined Spec Rx
__Sphere and Cylinder: -8.00 = -7.25
__Then subtract new sphere from
__new cylinder: (-7.25) - (-4.75) =
-2.50
Recommended: -4.75 -2.50 x 090
Plus Rx Example:
Spec Rx: +5.00 -1.00 x180
Sphere Pwr.
__Vertex Sphere: +5.00 = +5.25
__Add +0.50D(pwrs>+3.00rule):=+5.75
Cylinder Pwr.: No Change
Recommended: +5.75 -1.00 x 180
Base Curve
Selection:
Convert your K readings into the appro-priate base
curve by adding the steep and flat K's together and dividing by
two. This will give you your average K reading. Using the chart
below, select the corresponding base curve to the desired diameter.
Care of Lenses:
Use chemical disinfection only.
Do not solution which contain Potassium Sorbate or Sorbic acid.
Do not use heat disinfection systems because of the high (55%) water
content.
Key Points:
- The BioCurve Specialty Toric lens fits successfully
as a "first lens fit" in the majority of cases using the
spectacle refraction and K readings.
- Three diameters available.
-Other custom parameters not listed are available upon request.
- Professional and freindly consultation available to assit in lens
design.
No Risk Guarantee:
Full credit on any division cancellation within
60 days of the original invoice.
Unlimited parameter exchanges on any division within 120 days of
the original invoice.
